How to Purchase Credits
"Viewing credits" or "credits" are how you pay for your telescope time:
they are purchased (usually with a credit card) and applied to
your MyTelescope account, ready for when you go to book a telescope.
When you book a telescope, the estimated number of credits needed for the
booking are placed on "reserve" in your account; when the session
is over, only the actual cost of the session is deducted (things like
weather can lower the cost of a session).
You can purchase credits at any time simply by clicking the
"Purchase Credits" link found on the left side menu of most pages.
That page will show you a list of "packages" you can purchase -
packages vary in the number of credits they contain and their cost.
To pay for a package, click on the "Pay with PayPal"
button - this will take you to PayPal's site where you can
either use either your PayPal account or your credit card to pay for the MyTelescope package (PayPal does not require that you have an account with them if you are paying with your credit card).
When you have finished the PayPal purchase, you should be sent back
to the MyTelescope site.
You can check your current credit balance and find details on
credit purchases and uses by clicking the "Account Info" link and then
the "Transactions" link.
The top of this page has a short summary of the number of available credits
you have and the number that are currently "reserved" for bookings
that are in progress or that have not yet started.
Once you have some credits in your account, the next step is
to learn how to Book a Telescope.
